Breathe. Sure, you’re probably already breathing but intentional deep breathing brings fresh oxygen and feel-good reactions to your body. Not only can it help to lower stress levels and help you feel more calm, studies show it can also increase mental energy and lower blood pressure. This can be done anywhere and at any time you feel comfortable. Deep breathing is a little different than just the normal shallow in and out breathing we do naturally all day long. Try inhaling through your nose while silently counting to five, filling your abdomen as full as you can. Hold that breath for three seconds. Then slowly exhale while counting to five. Do this a few more times, or better yet, a few minutes.
Take A Break. Really. Just take a break. Put the phone away and just chill. If you do need to do something, make a list of five things you are grateful for at that moment. They could be big things (such as ‘I’m grateful for my best friend’) or they can be little things (such as ‘I am grateful for donuts’). Either way, spend a few minutes thinking about things in your life for which you are grateful. Not only will this give you a few minutes to hit the reset button in your day, but can also uplift your mood and give you a boost of positive for the day.
